You’re still showing up. Still performing. Still ticking the boxes. But underneath, something has shifted. The pressure feels relentless, sleep isn’t what it was, and the confident version of yourself feels harder and harder to access.

If that sounds familiar, you’re not falling apart — but you may be burning out. And you don’t have to wait until things get worse to do something about it.

What brings people here

The people I work with don’t always use words like anxiety or burnout. They come in with words like overwhelmed, exhausted, stuck, or simply not themselves. They’re often high achievers — managers, business owners, healthcare workers, teachers, parents running a household alongside a demanding career — people who are very good at holding things together for everyone else.

What they share is a sense that the coping strategies that used to work are no longer enough. That somewhere along the way, enough became too much. That they're holding it together on the outside while quietly falling apart on the inside.

“Everything looks okay from the outside. It doesn't feel that way.”

This is one of the most common things people say in a first session. And it’s the perfect place to start.

You might recognise some of this

1

Your mind won't switch off

You lie awake replaying conversations, worrying about tomorrow, or going over what you should have said or done differently.

2

You're running on empty

You push through the day, but by evening there's nothing left. Rest doesn't restore you the way it used to.

3

Decisions feel harder

What used to feel straightforward now takes more out of you. You second-guess yourself more than before.

4

You're short with the people you love

The irritability or emotional flatness spills into your personal life — and that bothers you too.

5

You look fine from the outside

Nobody at work knows. You keep performing. But privately, you're aware that something isn't right.

6

You feel guilty for struggling

You have a good life. You know that. But knowing it doesn't stop the anxiety or the exhaustion — and that's confusing.

Why this happens — and why it’s not a character flaw

Burnout and high-functioning anxiety don’t only affect people who are struggling. They happen to capable, driven people who have been running at a high level for a long time, often without adequate recovery. People who, by most measures, look like they have it together.

High-functioning anxiety in particular can be invisible for years — even to the person experiencing it. You develop strategies to cope, to keep going, to appear in control. Those strategies work, until gradually they don’t. The drive that used to fuel your performance starts to quietly work against you.

Understanding what’s actually going on is the first step to getting back to yourself.

Practical. Solution-focused. Built around getting you back to yourself.

This isn’t about endlessly revisiting the past or sitting with things getting worse before they get better. The work I do is solution-focused — we identify what’s not working, understand why, and build practical tools to shift it as efficiently as possible.

Using a combination of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Hypnotherapy, NLP, Mindfulness, and Human Givens Psychotherapy, I tailor every session to you as an individual. Most people notice a meaningful shift within the first few sessions.

On average, I work with people over one to six sessions — typically three or four. You won’t be kept in the process longer than you need to be.

Common questions

  • This is probably the most common reason people wait — and it often means they wait longer than they need to. You don’t have to be at a crisis point to benefit from this work. If it’s affecting your sleep, your relationships, your ability to make decisions, or your enjoyment of life — it’s worth addressing. The earlier you do, the quicker the process tends to be.

  • A lot of people have had this experience, particularly with approaches that are slow-moving or heavily focused on unpacking the past. What I do is different — it’s practical, forward-facing, and built around getting you functional results. If what you’ve tried before hasn’t worked, that doesn’t mean nothing will.

  • That response often tells me more than anything else about how much someone needs this. The work is focused — a small number of sessions, not an open-ended process. Most people find they get back far more time and energy than they invest, simply by functioning better day to day.

  • No. You share what feels right for you. For some issues — particularly around past experiences — I use techniques that can help neutralise the emotional impact without requiring you to go through the details. You’re always in control of the process.
